About the speakers

Matthew Keeley: Cold Shore

Matthew is a writer and teacher from Glasgow. He has had short stories published in various anthologies and magazines and his debut sci-fi novel, Turning the Hourglass, was published by Black Rose Writing in 2019.

Caroline Grebbell: Cala Briste

Caroline is a BSFA nominated writer based in Scotland. Her speculative novella 'Cala Briste' is to be published later this year by Stone Owl Stories.

Suzanne Owen: How I became a Bard

Suzanne is a lecturer living in Yorkshire researching British Druidry and indigeneity in Newfoundland, publishing on both subjects. In 2017, she gained an MA in Creative Writing and have completed the first book of a fantasy trilogy called A Bardic Tale. The second is underway.

Sophie Squire: Black Hole

Sophie is a 20-something-year-old from Staffordshire, living in Cardiff and studying an MA in Creative Writing. Her preferred genres are science fiction, fantasy and sometimes even some cross-genre sci-fi-horror. She’s working towards starting her PhD on the accessibility of global warming information in science fiction as opposed to news media.

Joyce Meggett: Porter Jefferson is Here to Tell You

Joyce Meggett was writing a slightly askew historical novel when she got grabbed by a tentacle and pulled into a science fiction collaboration. She graduated from Edinburgh Napier’s creative writing MA program last year and hasn’t been the same since.

Lyndsey Croal: Zenith 16

Lyndsey is a Scottish writer living in Edinburgh. She received a Scottish Book Trust New Writers Award for 2020 and is working on her debut novel. Her writing has been published by “Cymera Festival”, 'MookyChick' and in the anthology “Imagine a Country” (Canongate). Find her on Twitter at @writerlynds.

Michael Daviot: More Wine

Michael is an actor/writer with 37 years professional experience, north and south of the border. Since 2014 he’s written and performed five solo shows, most recently Dr Moreau Explains (2019).
