Future Proof with Rachelle Atalla and Eve Smith

  • Pleasance 60 Pleasance Edinburgh, Scotland, EH8 9TQ United Kingdom (map)

How far would you go to ensure survival?

At the end of the world in Rachelle Atalla’s debut The Pharmacist, Wolfe is one of the lucky ones. She's made it to the bunker, and employed as the bunker's pharmacist, she’s doling out medicine under the watchful eye of their increasingly erratic and paranoid leader. But the walls that keep her safe also have her trapped in a place where one small misstep can light the fuse on the powder keg of life underground.

In Off-Target, Eve Smith imagines an all-too-possible near future, when genetic engineering has become the norm for humans, and parents are prepared to take incalculable risks to ensure that their babies are perfect. Susan has been trying for a baby for years so when an impulsive one-night stand makes her dream come true, she'll do anything to keep her daughter and ensure her husband doesn't find out. Including the unthinkable...
